Over the past 30 years, Meulenberg Transport has transformed from a road haulier into a trendsetter in the field of intermodal transport, combined transport by road, water and rail. With intermodal transport, Meulenberg contributes to achieving the climate objectives by limiting kilometers and CO2 emissions.
Container transport
Transport of sea containers between the Euregio and the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp, by road, rail or barge.
Transport of our own Intermodal Bulk Containers by rail to and from Italy. Door-to-door solutions.
For each transport order, the best combination of transport by truck and chartered train and/or barge services are selected for the required delivery lead times. This way, Meulenberg offers its clients the most cost-efficient and "greenest" possible logistic solution.
Meulenberg controls the entire chain of transport when it comes to sea container transport and Intermodal Bulk Containers. In addition to transporting loaded containers to and from the ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp and various destinations in Italy, we also provide stuffing and stripping of containers. The goods then can be transferred to another container, a distribution truck or they can be stored at our warehouse.
Rail terminal
Meulenberg also participates in Rail Terminal Chemelot (RTC) at the Chemelot site in Geleen. From here, daily rail connections are maintained with, among others, Moerdijk and Northern Italy.
A container crane with a capacity of 45 tons ánd a 44-ton reach stacker handle the containers. The terminal has got a total area of 6ha and a transhipment capacity of 100.000 units per year. For various shippers, both full and empty units are stored here, close to their loading or unloading location. Meulenberg also provides punctual delivery on demand. This reduces the transport of empty containers to a minimum.
OCEAN FREIGHT FORWARDING SERVICES

Distribution
In addition to container transport, Meulenberg Transport is also strong in distribution, both FTL and LCL, with extensive logistics services, if desired. In addition to various clients, paper manufacturer Sappi is responsible for our largest activity in this area. For example, Meulenberg takes care of daily distribution of paper to end-users in the Benelux area. For this we have a large fleet of joloda trailers, specifically designed for paper-rolls.
Warehousing
In 2003, Meulenberg built a new warehouse for storage and transshipment of goods in combination with distribution in the Benelux area. The warehouse has an area of 3.300 m2 with three docks for loading and uloading trucks. It meets modern requirements in terms of insulation and security. With this, Meulenberg realizes a valuable link between sea container transport and distribution.
Outdoor storage
In the fully illuminated and secured Container Terminal, Meulenberg also offers space for open-air storage and storage of goods in sea containers.
